Makers make your mark! For today is National Dot Day. If you are a fan of polka-dots or a fan of any type of dot art today is your day to celebrate!
At Maker Studio Kidz we use dot art in many ways throughout our classes. It's an exciting way to give art pieces a pop of color and it is a great sensory art project for kids.

Stop, Pop, and Dot!
These extraordinary colorings are from our Pop Art class. These designs were inspired by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama.
Kusama is known for her out of this world art installations, primarily specializing in dot art!
Inspired by the American Abstract impressionism, Kusama was a big influence on the Pop art movement in NYC during the 1960s. She has opened up that creating art has helped her tremendously with her mental health. The only method that has relieved her mental illness was to keep making art.

It's truly amazing to see all the different ways you can create art with dots! We love this dot painting by Sara Kindsvatter. The detail and gradients of dots are so mesmerizing and thrilling to look at.
